This three (3) hour continuing education graduate course has been designed to introduce the teachers to the art and artists of the 20th Century and how to incorporate this art into the curriculum. Relevant concepts, ideas, theories and principles will be presented in multi media lecture, followed by class discussion and small group interaction to the end that participants will have a working knowledge and understanding of the course content as well as how to use same in their professional setting. Lots of ideas, materials, activities and strategies will be shared, analyzed and evaluated.

This three (3) semester hour continuing education graduate course has been designed to introduce the teachers to some of the greatest architecture of the world. The architects (separate course) and their works will be reviewed in brief. Basic concepts, architectural principles and innovative evolution will be covered to the end that participants will learn the stated learning objectives. Lots of ideas, materials, activities and strategies will be shared analyzed and evaluated.

Level Two will present to participants some techniques in Photoshop beyond the basics. Participants will complete projects for use in the classroom and also learn how to involve their students in the use of Photoshop. Participants are required to have available a recent version of Adobe Photoshop and some previous experience with Photoshop. You will interact with the instructor and fellow students via email and the course discussion board to share comment on your work.

The purpose of this 3-hour Continuing Education Graduate course is to introduce methods of planning, producing and integrating the new rapidly changing instructional technology for the K-12 classroom. Technology to be covered will include the latest computer upgrades, Smart Boards, high speed Internet, digital photography, new uses for Websites, Blogs. Podcasts, Wikis, Audio Books, Scanners, new uses for Google and related technologies. This course will provide the necessary information about current successful practices of technology in the K-12 classroom. Participants will receive hands on instruction in a variety of classroom technologies. Successful sites with technology rich environments in K-12 education, higher education and industry will be studied as well. Participants will design learning units that include integration of technology into their curriculum.
Course strategies will include: (1) outside readings; (2) final exam; (3) large and small group presentations; (4) small group discussion; (5) individual counseling; (6) demonstrations; (7) development of a mini-unit; and (8) the development, implementation and evaluation of an individual Action Plan.

CTED 631 - Multi Cultural Classroom Activities (K-12)©

Join CBS-58 Food Reporter and second grade teacher Willard Romantini for a fast paced, hands-on learning experience where students will become aware of and appreciate the differences and similarities of the multi cultural students that are now filling their classrooms. During the course students will learn how to set up a working kitchen lab in their classroom, use food as a springboard to generate excitement and learn about the world around them and use the many undiscovered community resources. Classes are limited to thirty students per session and there will be a $75 dollar fee for materials, banquet and field trip.

Taking a look at the "gang" phenomenon from a national and local perspective will help the participants find solutions to the problem of gang development. Highlights include: ethnic sharing, intervention strategies with at-risk students, prevention , specialist panel, community resources, economic factors and AODA impact.

This three credit continuing education graduate course is intended to provide broad-based knowledge of the course topic as well as how participants can best transmit this knowledge to students in their classrooms. This course will examine cultural, ethnic, economic, environmental, scientific, industrial, political and historical perspectives in order to strengthen student knowledge and understanding of American history. The course pedagogy will present the Great American West through the use of literature, power point presentations, small group sharing, and audio-video materials, and will provide teachers with project ideas, lesson plans and a variety of primary and secondary source handouts for future use in the classroom. The projected outcome is to provide classroom teachers with the knowledge, understanding and methodologies needed to help students learn more about American history as it relates to a variety of disciplines. Many new ideas, materials, strategies and activities will be provided as part of the course methodology.

This three credit continuing education graduate course will explore the powerful influence of the educator in the learning process. The success of the educational experience consists of more than strategies and knowledge. The educator is central to the experience. Through understanding selfperception and the forces effecting learning, educators can inspire students to achieve at their fullest. Participants will assess their own power and learn practical, hands-on strategies to inspire learners, connect with colleagues, and involve the community all while maintaining a healthy balance and positive outlook.
